Partitions, Doors, and Ceilings
In the heart of Manchester, the Eden Building stands as a testament to the future of high-rise developments, blending modern architecture with leading-edge sustainability practices.
Setting a New Standard in Sustainable Construction
The Eden Building is more than just an office space; it is a blueprint for environmentally conscious construction. Boasting Europe’s largest living wall—comprising over 350,000 plants and 32 native species—the building’s exterior is not only aesthetically pleasing but also plays a critical role in reducing the carbon footprint. The living wall acts as a natural air purifier, supports biodiversity, and helps regulate the building's internal temperature, reducing the need for artificial cooling.
Inside, the design continues the theme of sustainability, with every aspect of construction focused on minimising environmental impact. TIC was tasked with delivering the Partitions, Doors, and Ceilings package for 20,000 sq ft of office space spread over the top two floors of the Eden Building working in collaboration with the Principle Contractor, Interaction. TIC’s work had to meet exacting standards for sustainability, with SKA Gold Certification being a key target.
Meeting the SKA Gold Standard
Achieving SKA Gold Certification is no easy feat. It is the highest rating in the SKA rating system, which measures environmental performance for office fit-outs. For the TLT office space, this meant that every material used and every design choice had to contribute to TLT’s overarching goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2040. TIC ensured that all materials were responsibly sourced, with a focus on recyclability, durability, and low environmental impact.
Delivering on a High-Profile Vision
Projects of this scale and profile require more than just technical skill; they demand seamless coordination and exceptional attention to detail. TIC’s team worked closely with the designers from Interaction, and other contractors to ensure that the project’s sustainability goals were not only met but exceeded. The end result is a workspace that offers more than just an attractive environment—it represents a forward-thinking approach to office design that will set the standard for future developments.
A Future-Ready Workspace
For TLT, the Eden Building is not just an office—it is a statement of intent. As a legal firm committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, their office space had to reflect their values. By working with partners like TIC, they were able to create a workspace that not only meets today’s sustainability standards but is also future-proofed for the environmental challenges of tomorrow.
TIC’s role in this project demonstrates their ability to navigate complex requirements, maintain a strong focus on sustainability, and deliver innovative design solutions. With their expertise, the Eden Building project stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when sustainability is integrated into the heart of design and construction.
